Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the smooth and efficient running of the Engineering Department, supporting all other hotel departments with technical expertise and timely maintenance.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repair work on electrical, mechanical, and building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and guest room fixtures.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and other departments, ensuring issues are resolved with minimal disruption.
- Monitor and maintain central plant operations, ensuring systems are running efficiently and in compliance with safety standards.
- Carry out routine inspections of hotel facilities, identifying potential issues and taking corrective action before they impact operations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and inventory of supplies and parts.
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to plan and execute renovation projects, equipment upgrades, and energy conservation initiatives.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting a culture of safety within the department and across the hotel.
Qualifications
A qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Building Management, or a related discipline is desirable. Candidates must have a minimum of two years of work experience as a Tradesperson in a hotel, or four years of experience in a similar large building or complex with central plant operations. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and building automation is essential. The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently is important. Good communication skills and a commitment to providing excellent service to internal and external customers are required. A valid driver’s licence may be required for some tasks.
