What You Will Do Every Day
As a flight attendant, your primary focus is passenger welfare, comfort, and enjoyment from the moment people step onboard until they reach their destination. You will conduct pre flight safety checks and ensure all equipment is ready. You will demonstrate safety procedures and answer passenger questions clearly and calmly. During the flight, you will serve meals and beverages while maintaining a warm and professional manner. You will handle unexpected situations including medical events, disruptive passengers, or sudden turbulence with confidence. You will work closely with the rest of the cabin crew to keep flights on time and customers happy. After landing, you will assist with disembarkation, clean the cabin, and complete any required reports.
What We Are Looking For
You must hold New Zealand or Australian citizenship or permanent residency. A valid passport with at least two years of validity is essential. You must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application. A full New Zealand driver license and reliable transport are required from day one. While not mandatory, a minimum of two years of proven experience in a customer facing role within a high pressure environment is strongly preferred. You need to be physically fit because this role involves long periods of standing, lifting, and moving through aircraft aisles. You must be willing to work rostered shifts including weekends and public holidays. Compliance with strict grooming and uniform standards is non negotiable. Finally, you must be able to effectively communicate safety requirements to passengers with authority and empathy.
Pay and Benefits
The starting hourly rate for this cabin crew position is between NZD 27 and NZD 32 per hour depending on experience. That aligns with current market rates for flight attendants in New Zealand.
